Very quickly hit on this on my catching up thread. This series was a victim in my eyes. Not only is it an Isekai, but it was also marketed as a Harem (what do YOU think when you see this stock image for the anime above!?), double hits on my NOT WATCHING IT list. After hearing about it from a few of my FB friends that still reliably watch anime and doing some quick research after it was on episode 22/24 for the season, I turned the dub on for background noise on a dead workday. After the first 15 minutes, I was bringing my lunch to my desk and full-on watching it. Here this guy in his 30's was stabbed, dead on the Tokyo ground and talking to a computer voice as he's literally waking up as a Slime by this time. Complaining about things like how he had never been with a girl before, I could see how this was going to go into harem in a quick turn of events (I was probably 15 deep in my 3 episode give of Isekai's by this time and only ever made it into Sword Art Online*don't judge me for that one*).
Instead, he's a blind Slime, talking to a computer in his head, quickly stumbling upon a giant imprisoned dragon and making a true friendship pact/bond with him by the end of the episode. NO GIRLS IN SIGHT. By the end of my 3 episode give, I was head over heals in love with it, by the likes of which I haven't seen in a VERY long time. Even if you haven't watched anime in awhile, give it a shot. Also rare on how I can interchange between sub and dub without it bothering me. If you don't believe me, multitask with the dub at first until it gets you too.
Are there girls? Yes. Is there fanservice? Yes. Does the series KNOW there is fanservice to the extent they sexualize both men and woman and don't focus on it at all? Hell yes. It's on funimation dub/sub and VRV/crunchyroll subbed last I checked. If you don't have either, sign up for a free trial and watch it anyway. Let me know what you think.
