(Most generic thread title ever ) I'm currently watching Deca Dence. I'm not quite caught up in (I think I'm missing the lastest episode) and not sure I'll continue watching because I keep getting distracted while I watch it. I tried getting into The Great Pretender but I thought it was very meh. The only anime I really liked recently was BNA, which I thought was excellent. This season is a little underwhelming for me overall, but I'm not too disappointed because I'm looking forward to more Golden Kamuy in the fall.

Deca-Dence is a great show! I like all the layers it has, like an onion. I dug BNA too, Trigger always makes interesting stuff. This is kind of a light season for me, which I'm actually happy with since I have more time to catch up on manga and other media. - Re:Zero - Really enjoying this season, and I'm glad that Echidna is finally appearing in the actual show. Plus, she's voiced by Maaya Sakamoto...bonus!
- SAO - The first half of Alicization was really engaging, so I've been a bit disappointed in the second half. It's kind of a drag just watching the same pattern play out over and over while waiting for dumbass Kirito to wake his ass up (More reinforcements! Momentary victories! Then back to getting their asses handed to them). There also seems to be an infinite wellspring of overpowered Admin accounts that both sides have access to, which is kind of weird.
- Appare-Ranman - An original series by one of my favorite studios, P.A. Works. This is a great show, that's like a mashup of Oh! Edo Rocket and Wacky Races. Highly recommended.
- Fire Force - This show is a lot of fun, and I'm very happy it's back. Incredible sakuga in every episode. Probably gonna pick up the manga soon. It's by the same mangaka as Soul Eater, which I was pretty lukewarm on overall, and never ended up finishing. But I like this new series a lot more.
- Railgun T - Another returning champion, this season has been quite good. I'm pretty sure I like the Index-verse spinoffs more than Index itself. 😅
- The Misfit of Demon King Academy - A very silly show, with a ridiculous premise and setting, but there's just something about it that keeps me coming back. Also a surprising amount of sakuga...the sword duel in last week's episode was some of the best animation I've seen in a while.
- Rental Girlfriend - My trashy romcom/soap opera quota of the season. Really boneheaded protagonist, which is par for the course with these series, but he actually gets decent character development as the story moves along. I've actually been reading the manga for a couple years now, so I was glad to hear about the anime adaptation. I'd forgotten how eventful the early chapters were!
- The God of High School - Another Korean manhua adaptation from WEBTOON. This show is kind of all over the place (what the fuck was that random wedding plotline?), and apparently they're blasting through a lot of the chapters in some episodes, so that probably doesn't help the pacing issues. It's got really good fight animation, but considering the problems with the show, I'm starting to lose interest a bit.
- Dokyuu Hentai HxEros - Since this season is so light, I figured I'd check out some of the ecchi shows. This one is sooooo dumb (super sentai show where they fight aliens who want to steal humans' horniness), but it's got some pretty good gags...I get at least a few laughs from every episode. And I SWEAR that the producers of this show MUST be kimoi seiota like me, as just about every episode has some kind of seiyuu reference, plus every episode has a legendary veteran seiyuu hamming it up as the latest ero-stealing alien. 😅
- Peter Grill and the Philosopher's Time - Another ecchi show, not much to say about this one since it's just pure cheesecake. It's only 12 minutes long though, so with skipping the long-ish intro and outro, it only ends up being 7-8 minutes, so not a huge time investment.
