so...one kid wants to make cookies...another wants to eat the cookie dough that's left over, it's like her favorite thing...whatever
the former thinks this is weird and now doesn't want to make cookies because she doesn't want her sister to be weird and eat cookie dough. the latter thinks this is unfair and clearly her sister hates her for liking cookie dough...
i'm just gonna hide in my office for a while until this blows over

What? No suggestion that the cookie dough eater can just make her own batch of cookie dough to eat?
*pat pat* Some day, you'll look back on this argument and think to yourself, "I miss the days when their worst argument was about cookie dough...."

Jessie, that's what I always hear about our kid. "You'll look back and miss the day when..." - it does in fact just get worse, but do I miss those times? Heck no. I'm with the suggestion to just have the 2nd kid make their own darn dough to eat...or just buy the "safe to eat" pre-made stuff. Problem solved. That being said, I sympathize with just wanting to hide, this whole thing sounds good to hide from.
And now I want cookie dough, thanks for that. =P

I didn't mean to imply that it will get better or that he will actively miss these days. I meant to warn that it gets worse. My 18 y/o has spent the past 2 years convinced that acting like she is afraid of everything~~ and completely helpless~~~ is oh-so-cute. As a woman who has spent my life endeavoring to never be helpless, I just wanna strangle the kid.
I'm waiting for that day when I'm supposed to be overwhelmed with pride about what a fine young woman she has become. I think we still have a few more years to go, though. And I struggle with this a lot, because I was a much more determined and independent kid than she has ever been so...I just...don't understand...
There was a time when she stepped up to potentially save the life of one of her classmates. The classmate had been making multiple suicidal statements and was texting friend groups to ask them to bring her supplies to school she could use to kill herself. Izzy chose to report it to one of the most trusted/popular teachers at school in order to get the girl some help, in spite of the social risk of potentially being labeled as someone who couldn't be trusted by her peers. I was (and still am) really proud of her for having that courage and that wisdom. Thankfully, Izzy didn't really suffer any fall-out from it. As for the girl in question, it seems she has a challenging home life. She was born physically a boy, and her parents are forcefully rejecting the girl's statement that she is a girl - not a boy. Izzy isn't really in touch with her much anymore, and I hope that the girl will some day be able to be a walking, living example of the "It gets better" movement.

tbf, my oldest could make cookie dough on her own, but just doesn't want to...the younger one is our little foodie who enjoys cooking, and eats tomatoes cut up and drizzled with fancy balsamic vinegars...
oldest was going to learn how to make crepes for dinner and thought this meant her sister wouldn't help her because clearly the hate is that strong if she won't let her eat cookie dough...my wife had to point out that "it's not your sister's job to teach you how to cook stuff...that's my job...hello..."
it was quite the interesting day. i'm looking forward to getting back to judo so i can get her out of the house and flinging people bigger than she is around again
while this fight was going on my youngest was raving over...patch notes in a roblox game update of all things.
